            "body": "A trunk 12.8 metres around and 31 metres tall: the sacred tree of Wazuka, designated a Natural Monument by Kyoto Prefecture. It lost its main trunk to lightning, yet survived as eight branches grown from a single stock. It is said that prayers were offered here for the recovery of Prince Asaka, who died at seventeen."

            "body": "An ancient temple on the summit of Mt. Jubu (682 m), the highest peak in southern Yamashiro. Tradition holds that En no Gyoja founded it and that Emperor Shomu made it an imperially commissioned temple to guard the demon gate of Heijo-kyo. The two-storey pagoda, built in 1298, is an Important Cultural Property. The Miroku Magaibutsu stood on the pilgrimage road to this temple."

The Tomb of Prince Asaka is about 5 minutes away (roughly 350 m), Shohoji Temple about 11 minutes (roughly 700 m), the Miroku Magaibutsu rock-carved Buddha about 18 minutes (roughly 1.4 km) and the Kamatsuka Tea Fields about 10 minutes (roughly 0.8 km)."

On the Centre's private tour for individuals (from 2 people, booked at least 2 days ahead; no tours in July and August), the tea-field walk can sometimes be switched to tea picking, but not in every season, so please ask first (tours and experiences line +81 774-78-3396). Dates can change with the growth of the leaves and the weather, so please check before you come. Before or after, come to wazukanoSATO Cafe for lunch."

For a snack, try the Cha-tarashi Dango (680 yen) or shaved ice in summer, and pick up morning-picked vegetables and Wazuka tea at the farm shop on your way home. On weekends and holidays, Yubune Forest Park (about 18 minutes by car; open on weekends and holidays, closed in winter) has a shallow stretch of river only 10–20 cm deep where children can play in the water."
