Disclaimer

DisclaimerTERMS OF USE

This page sets out the terms on which you may use the website of Wazuka no Sato Station (operated by the Wazuka no Sato Council), at https://wazukanosato.com/ (“this site”), and the limits of our liability. It also explains how this site is put together and kept up to date. By using this site you are taken to have accepted what is written here.

1. Who runs this site

This site is run by Wazuka no Sato Station (which includes the wazukanoSATO Cafe) in Wazuka, Soraku-gun, Kyoto. The operating body is the Wazuka no Sato Council (35 Osama, Shirasu, Wazuka-cho, Soraku-gun, Kyoto 619-1222). This site is not an official site of Wazuka Town, the Wazuka Tourism Association, Kyoto Prefecture or any other public body. Please send enquiries and corrections about this site to us, using the contact details in section 21 below, rather than to those bodies.

2. What the information on this site is

This site exists to help people who are visiting Wazuka. What is written here is guidance based on what we were able to confirm at the time of writing; it is not a guarantee. This is particularly true of information about temples, shrines, shops, transport and events run by others, which those operators may change at any time. Please confirm with each operator before you set out.

3. Accuracy and liability

We take care to keep the information on this site accurate, but we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, current or fit for any purpose. We accept no liability for loss arising from information having changed, from an error, or from information not being included, except where the loss is caused by our intent or gross negligence (see also section 24, Limitation of liability).

4. We show our sources

Nothing here is written from hearsay. For history, public schemes, statistics and annual events we work from public bodies and official sites wherever we can, and we list those sources on the page itself. As at 2 October 2026:

  • the site carries 808 source references in total (300 distinct URLs)
  • 44 pages carry a list of sources
  • 130 of those sources are from public bodies — the national government, Kyoto Prefecture, Wazuka Town and universities (lg.jp / go.jp / pref / ac.jp)
  • the main sources are Wazuka Town, Kyoto Prefecture, the National Diet Library Digital Collections, the Kyoto Prefecture Tourism Federation, Ocha no Kyoto and the Wazuka Tourism Association
  • 46 pages state the date on which we last opened and checked every source link on that page

5. Traditions and local stories

Some local stories cannot be confirmed from public records. Rather than leave them out, we write them with the claim softened — “it is said that…” or “tradition holds that…” — and add a note saying that we could not confirm it in public records, together with where to ask. Where sources disagree about a date or a figure, we set out what each source says.

6. Prices, opening hours and event dates

Prices, opening hours, closing days and event dates for places other than our own are as published by each operator at the time of writing. They change without notice.

  • items that give a price or a date for other places carry their source, and our guide pages for sights also state the date we checked it. For fares and timetables, the source pages are watched automatically every week
  • prices at our own shop and café are shown including tax and may change with the season and what is available; the price shown in the shop prevails
  • the “This week in Wazuka” box on the home page, the “Wazuka through the year” page and the “Around Wazuka” page each carry a note asking you to confirm with the organiser before you set out
  • events with fixed dates are removed automatically once a set period has passed since they ended
  • even so, what you find may differ. Please confirm with the organiser

7. Our shop and café: products and menu

What this site says about the products in our farm shop and the menu at wazukanoSATO Cafe reflects the position at the time of writing.

  • the shop centres on vegetables and tea grown in Wazuka, alongside produce from neighbouring areas and goods we buy in. Please check the label on each product for its origin and ingredients
  • stock changes daily; items may sell out or not be available on a given day, and limited items end when they are gone
  • menu photographs show one example of how a dish is served. Contents, tableware and side dishes change with the season and what is available
  • for ingredients and allergens, please ask our staff in the shop before you order. Please do not rely on this site alone
  • this site has no facility for buying products or making bookings (we do not sell by mail order). For group visits and similar requests, please telephone us using the contact details below

8. Photographs

The photographs on this site were either taken by the Council or are used with the permission of the photographers and rights holders.

  • 99 images are used in the body of the site (shared by the Japanese and English pages), all served from our own server
  • there is not one instance of an image being loaded directly from another site (hotlinking)
  • photographs taken by people other than the Council are published with the permission of the photographers and rights holders, who retain the copyright in them
  • one event flyer published by its organiser is shown, and we will act promptly on any request from that organiser
  • if you appear in a photograph and would prefer not to, please tell us using the contact details below and we will look into it and act promptly
  • if you believe any image affects your rights, please tell us using the contact details below and we will look into it and act promptly

9. Quotation

Where we quote someone else’s writing, we follow the requirements for quotation under Article 32 of the Japanese Copyright Act: the quotation must be necessary, clearly distinguished from our own text, subordinate to it, and attributed.

  • quotations are set off with quotation marks and always carry the name of the source
  • we quote only as much as the point requires, and never let quotation make up the bulk of a page
  • we do not quote reviews written by members of the public
  • we do not summarise or alter an original and then present it as a quotation

10. Using material from this site

Copyright in the text, photographs and tables on this site belongs to the Council or to the rightful owner. Please do not reproduce, republish or alter them beyond what the Copyright Act permits for private use and quotation. If you quote or refer to this site, we would be grateful if you would name the source as “Wazuka no Sato Station website (wazukanosato.com)” and link to the page concerned. Please also do not use the name or logo of this site without permission. If you would like to use something, please ask us using the contact details below.

11. Links from this site to other sites

This site links to other sites, chiefly to show where our information comes from. We do not control those sites.

  • we do not warrant, and accept no liability for, the content, services or safety of a linked site
  • the content of a linked page may be changed, moved or deleted without notice
  • we link to the specific page that supports what we have written, so that the basis for it can be seen
  • once a week we check automatically that every link on this site is still live
  • some parts of this site are displayed using outside services — maps (Google Maps), video (YouTube) and fonts (Google Fonts). Their use is governed by each provider’s terms. See our Privacy Policy for details
  • any booking, purchase or application you make on a linked site is a transaction between you and that site’s operator. The Council is not a party to it and accepts no liability for it

12. Linking to this site

You are free to link to this site, and you do not need to tell us. We would ask you not to link in a way that misrepresents what we have written, and not to link from a site that breaks the law or offends public order and morals. Please also do not display pages of this site inside another site’s frame or embedded in another page.

13. How we decide what to include

Whether a temple, shrine, shop or event appears on this site is decided by the Council, on the basis of whether it helps someone visiting Wazuka.

  • We do not take payment for inclusion. Nothing on this site is advertising, and there are no affiliate links or paid articles of any kind
  • Inclusion is at the Council’s discretion, and we may be unable to act on a request to be included
  • Not being included does not mean we think less of a place. It may simply be a matter of space, of what we have been able to visit, or of what sources exist
  • If you would prefer not to be listed, please tell us using the contact details below and we will act promptly

14. How we write about other places and businesses

We describe temples, shrines, shops, transport and events around Wazuka to help people planning a visit. These are descriptions of fact. They do not indicate any partnership with, or endorsement by, the Council.

  • we work from official sites and published material from public bodies
  • we give the source, and on our guide pages for sights also the date we checked it
  • the names, logos and trade marks of the places and businesses described belong to their respective owners. We use them only as far as is needed to describe the facts
  • If you run a place described on this site and would like a correction, or would prefer not to be listed, please tell us using the contact details below. We will look into it and act promptly.

15. Reviews and ratings

Some pages on this site explain how to find a place’s reviews on Google Maps and how to write one. On this we promise the following.

  • we give nothing in return for a review — no discount, gift or payment of any kind
  • we do not dictate or steer the content or the rating of a review. Whether to write one, and what to say, is entirely your decision
  • we do not reproduce review-site ratings or the text of individual reviews on this site
  • review sites are run by their own operators, and the Council accepts no liability for what appears on them

16. Fact, and our own view

This site contains both statements of fact that we have checked and our own view — what we found enjoyable, what we would suggest. We write the second kind so that it reads as a view rather than a fact (“we think…”, “we would suggest…”). We have no intention of criticising any place, business or person, or of suggesting that one is worse than another. If anything here reads that way, please tell us using the contact details below.

17. The English version

The English pages of this site are prepared by the Council from the Japanese pages. For proper nouns we follow the Japan Tourism Agency’s multilingual guidance and each place’s own official English spelling where one exists; where none exists, the spelling is our own choice. If the Japanese and English versions differ, the Japanese version prevails. Comments on the English wording or translation are welcome through the contact details below.

18. Read-aloud and automatically generated parts

Some parts of this site involve machines. Here is what they do and where their limits lie.

  • the read-aloud function uses the synthetic voice built into your device or browser. Proper nouns — place names, temple and shrine names, personal names — can be mispronounced. We have registered 635 readings to reduce this, but it cannot prevent every error. For the correct reading, see the furigana in the text and the sources
  • the “This week in Wazuka” box on the home page is rebuilt every day from calendar data that the Council compiled from sources. We do not take information from other sites automatically for publication. Please direct questions about an event to its organiser
  • the “Wazuka through the year” page is rebuilt every day from calendar data that the Council compiled from sources. Because a machine decides the dates, there can be a short lag in marking an event as ended or in switching the month
  • where an automatically generated part turns out to be wrong, we correct it promptly

19. “Travel Music” (Gallery & Music)

The “Travel Music” section of the Gallery & Music page suggests pieces to listen to as you gaze over the tea fields or walk through the town. The audio is handled as follows.

  • we do not hold or stream the audio ourselves. Each piece is a video published on YouTube by the rights holder (the artist or label) or by YouTube’s official distribution channel, played as it is through YouTube’s embedded player. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play
  • the embedded player is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy, and YouTube may collect viewing data when a piece is played. The Council does not receive that data
  • the descriptions and the “scenes” are the Council’s own impressions. Titles, composers and performers follow the information given by the publisher of each video. The source of each piece (the channel that publishes it) is shown when you open its description
  • the selection is the Council’s own. It is not an endorsement by, or a partnership with, any rights holder or label, and we receive no payment for including any piece
  • a video may become unavailable without notice at the publisher’s discretion. When we notice that a piece can no longer be played, we replace or remove it promptly
  • “My playlist” is stored only in your own device (browser) and is never sent to our server
  • if you listen while walking, keep the volume low enough to hear traffic and farm work, and stay aware of your surroundings. The tea fields are private land. As set out in section 24, the Council cannot accept liability for accidents while walking or driving

20. When we find an error

When we learn that something here is wrong, we correct it promptly.

  • where the correction matters, we make clear what was changed
  • edits are recorded every two minutes, so it is possible to trace when a passage was changed and how
  • if the source itself has changed, we move the reference to the new source and update the date we checked it
  • it may take some time between receiving your message and confirming and correcting the point. If it is urgent, please telephone us

21. How to raise something with us

Please tell us about anything at all — an error, a concern about rights, or a request to remove a link or an entry. We will look into what you tell us and act promptly.

  • Contact form: the “Contact” page of this site
  • Telephone: +81 774-39-7790 (Wazuka no Sato Station, in Japanese)
  • It helps if you can give us the URL of the page and tell us which passage you mean

22. How we handle what you raise

We deal with corrections and requests in the following way.

  • we first establish the facts. To do so we may ask you to point to the passage concerned and to the basis for your view (a document, a URL or similar)
  • where we confirm that you are right, we correct or remove the passage promptly and, where it matters, make clear what was changed. Where we cannot confirm it, we tell you why
  • where a request concerns a third party’s rights, we act once we have confirmed that it comes from the rights holder or their authorised representative
  • what we do is decided by the Council in accordance with the law and this page. We do not change a statement of confirmed fact simply because one person asks us to
  • we may decline to deal with conduct that goes beyond what is reasonable — unfounded defamation, threats, intimidation, repetition of the same demand, or demands that obstruct our work
  • we keep a proper record of what is raised with us and how we responded

23. While you are here

Almost all of the tea fields in Wazuka are private land and a working place. So that everyone can enjoy the view, we ask the following.

  • Please do not walk into the tea fields. Look from the road
  • Please do not go close to people at work to take photographs
  • Please do not touch the tea bushes or crops, or take anything from the fields. Please take your litter home
  • Please park only in designated car parks, never on the road or on farm tracks. For parking at Wazuka no Sato, see the Access page
  • One district (Harayama) is closed to visitors. It cannot be visited
  • Flying a drone requires the procedures laid down by the Civil Aeronautics Act and other laws, and the permission of the landowner or manager. The Council is not in a position to permit flights over the tea fields
  • Roads in the hills are narrow, with steep and unpaved stretches. Please wear shoes you can walk in
  • What you do on site is your own responsibility. We accept no liability for accidents, injury or loss

24. Limitation of liability

We accept no liability for any loss arising from your use of this site, or from action taken on the basis of information on it. The same applies to any interruption, suspension or ending of this site, to loss of data, and to damage caused by computer viruses or the like. This does not apply where the loss is caused by our intent or gross negligence.

25. How this site is kept up

After it is written, this site is kept up by the following.

  • once a week, every link on the site is checked automatically to see that it is live
  • once a week, the source pages for information that changes often, such as transport, are watched automatically for changes
  • every day, the “This week in Wazuka” box and the “Wazuka through the year” page are rebuilt. Events that have ended drop out
  • edits are recorded every two minutes (more than 760 records so far)
  • a copy of every file is kept before it is changed (more than 342 so far)
  • 145 pages are published — 81 in Japanese and 64 in English. 143 pages declare the Japanese–English pairing (hreflang) and 140 carry structured data for search engines
  • 45 pages have a read-aloud function, with 635 readings registered for proper nouns

26. Personal information

For personal information, please see our separate Privacy Policy.

27. Governing law

The use of this site, and the interpretation and application of this page, are governed by Japanese law. Where the Consumer Contract Act or other law provides otherwise, that law applies.

28. Changes to this page

We may change what is written on this page as the need arises. Any change takes effect when it is published on this site. Significant changes are recorded in the revision history at the foot of this page.
